Don’t Wait. Step Through.
“Pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ.” Colossians 4:3 (NIV)
Across the trucking community, ministry rarely happens through one program, one place, or one organization. It happens wherever believers are willing to notice the people around them and respond—with a conversation at a truck stop, a prayer shared over the phone, a connection made between a driver and a local resource, or a relationship that grows through consistent care.
Each opportunity may look different, but the mission is the same: to carry the hope of Christ into the transportation industry. God opens doors through drivers, chaplains, churches, companies, ministry leaders, and other believers who understand the pressures of life on the road and want to serve the people who carry them.
No one person or ministry sees every need or has every resource. One chaplain may recognize a driver who needs support beyond a single conversation. A church may want to serve the trucking community but need help understanding where to begin. A transportation company may be looking for trusted spiritual care for its employees. A driver may simply need to know there is someone nearby who will listen and pray.
This is why connection matters. The International Christian Trucking Association brings together Christians across transportation so that relationships, experience, and ministry opportunities do not remain isolated. When we know one another, share what we are seeing, and stay willing to make an introduction or offer support, more doors become visible—and more people can be reached with meaningful, Christ-centered care.
An open door does not always arrive as a major invitation. Often, it begins with something ordinary: a name that keeps coming to mind, a driver who lingers after a conversation, a company leader asking a thoughtful question, or a fellow believer describing a need you may be able to help meet. Walking through that door may mean listening, following up, sharing a resource, making a connection, or praying with someone before the moment passes.
We do not have to do everything, and we do not have to do it alone. But each of us can be attentive to the part of the mission God has placed in front of us. One faithful response can become the door that connects a person to encouragement, practical help, Christian fellowship, or the reminder that they are not alone.
This month, pray for open doors throughout the trucking community. Pray for the discernment to recognize them, the courage to respond, and the relationships needed to serve well. Then consider the door nearest to you: Who can you encourage? What connection can you make? Where might God be inviting you to take one faithful step?
One mission can move through many doors. Together, we can help keep those doors open across the transportation community.
